Why don't some people understand lack of belief?

Just like everyone should be neutral about the question of Merlin's existence? Or fairies? Or leprechauns?

There's undecided, but with varying degrees of acceptance of the question. Neutral suggests that you should attribute it a 50/50 chance of god being in existence.
My intuition about reality, informed as it is by science, leans me to consider that chance as very far from 50/50, but I still allow it the benefit of the doubt.

Except your intuition is conjecture created by desires and reaffirmed by conjecture, and really nothing past that circular reasoning.

Just like yours.
Just like the philosophers of old's.
Just like anyone's.
