Pro-lifers like Alpha and Road like to talk about refraining from sex as though they’re offering a preventative solution to unwanted pregnancies, but as we know from a research standpoint (Alpha has both admitted as much and demonstrated this via a personal account), that type of rhetoric is not preventative at all. It doesn’t prevent anything. Rather, it’s punative; something to throw back at women when it’s too late. They don’t care about decreasing the number of unwanted pregnancies. Their ‘had you kept your legs closed you wouldn’t be in this situation,’ spiel is just gloating and denigration, post-event.
