Lately, he's been taking every other week off work to supposedly be with his son. I think he's just tired of working with me because I won't deal with his bullshit like anyone else will.

Sounds like he's maybe related to the boss? Nepotism? Or some other connection. If you're saying the manager turns a blind eye to his bad behaviour and drives him to work... maybe he was hired as a favour or out of charity?
