I would avoid traps, but don't try to avoid topics. It may sound tacky, but you have the truth on your side. A reasonable and honest assessment of the world does not demonstrate evidence of God. Seek to clarify the issue as much as possible and be as honest as you can.
Leave the misleading rhetoric and sleazy dodges to the apologists. We don't need to avoid the real issue.
