In fact, after Napoleon's abdication a considerable number of Wellington's Peninsula Army was sent to North America. In the customary British fuck-up fashion they were divided into a number of different forces and sent to points so scattered that they could not support each other. They failed miserably on Lake Champlain. Captured a couple of towns in Maine. Did burn Washington before being defeated in a land attack on Baltimore and failed to batter Fort McHenry into submission. The 4th column was Pakenham's.
The diversions from Wellington's army most likely account for the makeup of his army at Waterloo. About 35% were British with the rest being Dutch-Belgian, Brunswickers, Hanoverians, and the Kings German Legion. Luckily for Wellington Marshal Grouchy fucked up after Ligny which enabled Blucher to save his ass.
British successes in muddling through to world power gives heart to the mediocre and lacksidasical everywhere.
