Personally, I try to remind myself that god-bothering satisfies all of the shittiest parts of us..and that this, amusingly, is known to make us happy, lol. We actually take care of our livestock, and we're co-dependent upon each other, lol. God would be more a game warden than a rancher. We're the kings deer. Mostly oblivious and unaware of that greater reality outside our own experience..left to our own devices, little or no contact with the warden or any other divine representative until the moment of our death.
