To be fair, lawyer jargon can be confusing. There's a specific course that teaches them how to write hundred page depositions that can technically be summed up with "you're screwed".
I read a sci-fi story one time where the protagonist developed a machine that could accept pages of legal documents and print out a simplified result. That was essentially the result when he ran his soon-to-be ex-wife's lawsuit through it- "You're screwed". The attorneys found out about it, cashed him out handsomely and then ran it in reverse to generate new lawsuits for other people.
