As you know, this had nothing to do with hearing or understanding. It was a spectacle put on by the committee Republicans for the benefit of the hard-core base who support this ongoing shit show of a presidency and a congress. People will tune in to the primetime lineup on Fox News and be hit again and again with the same handful of carefully edited "moments" in which the conservative congressmen can be seen supposedly sticking it to THE LIBERAL DEEP STATE BOGEYMAN, and they'll eat it like candy.
Conservatives understand one thing very well: they know how to pound a narrative until it sticks. That's all the hearing was really designed to do, and I have no doubt it will work among their base, bright group that they are.
The hearing was a disgraceful display on an unusually rich day of disgraceful words and actions made on our behalf by our so-called leaders. On any other day, this hearing might well have been the worst of it. But Trump is overseas, showing his ass to the world, and there are still those children . . .
