Look, all I was saying was I wished there was a Mind/psychology forum, since that was mentioned in the OP... I'm not making any judgement on this one way or another other than to say it looks like a self-help book, which is not my thing... and I've never heard of Jordan Peterson or whatever controversy surrounds him.

Good point. I just pointed out that since you said there was probably something deeper in it that could have accounted for its being posted here, there probably didn't need to be one because he's become a political pundit and there doesn't even need to be one.

And if you're looking into the controversy, here's a good place to start:

https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Jordan_Peterson

He does have some good views (for someone so beloved by the alt-right, he does condemn racism in no uncertain terms; this probably puts him on the level of a Bush-era conservative), and he's written over 93 peer-reviewed articles to his name, a little less than 4938 citations in 3706 documents, and an h-index of 39 (note: 20 is good, 40 is outstanding, and 60 is exceptional). That said, his new fans don't care about what he has to say about the Big Five personality traits, or his studies of peoples' relationships with reading, or creative achievement, or even the early stuff that focused on alcoholism (the Scopus review of his work so far says these are the topics of his most cited papers), they just applaud him for telling them what they want to hear and giving them an air of mainstream respectability.

It's like Linus Pauling's obsession with Vitamin C after winning his Nobel Prizes, except it's something more toxic.
