He revoked the security clearence out of retribution for public comments and tweets that both hurt his feelings and damage his legal position in the current investigation.
In fact..there's a whole list of people whose security clearance have been revoked for no reason other than their connection to the investigation. Brennans was going to be revoked weeks ago..the statement is dated, but it was released now to deflect from the new omorossa scandal. Comey, Strok, Page, Mccabe, Rice etc.
The message is clear. Fall in line or suffer the wrath of the man sitting at the presidents desk.
Brennan still had his clearance precisely so that he -could- still do work for the government leveraging his knowledge and expertise.
