It depends how extreme the ideology is. In my opinion, any time dogma supplants discussion, then it's game over already. I don't care how valid the original intentions were, as soon as people say, "Shut the fuck up. I'm so right I don't even have to prove it," then you're on the road to something very bad indeed. When guilt by association of ideas precludes ANY discussion at all, then a disservice has been done.
