Luke has Mary immediately return to Nazareth. There is no time for a trip to Egypt.

Of coarse they did, it wasn't until Jesus was about two that they went to Egypt. Joseph had a home and business in Nazareth.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.
