So you would just sit there and let someone attack you? They had women and children with them as well. Life isn't always pretty and people aren't always friendly, but sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do. The interest wasn't in harming anyone. The interest was in getting out of their way so they could get to their destination, not start a battle.

When I was in the Army, it wasn't about what I did or didn't want to do. It was about what I needed to do. I wouldn't tell anyone to go out and kill someone just because, but when there are battles going on, sometimes you don't get to pick in choose.
I'm sure you've heard of Chris Kyle. He was an American Sniper known in Iraq as al-shaitan (the devil) of Ramadi. One of his most well-known shots was having to shoot a woman who was carrying a grenade under her cloak and walking towards Marines. Later on he stated that he never took a shot that he regretted. Unfortunately he was later killed by another American he was trying to help.
The reality is sometimes these things happen. Often woman and children become combatants, and many times they have no choice in the matter. Sometimes the best we can do in life isn't optimal, but that doesn't mean it isn't appropriate for a given time.
