Not the point. If their supporters want to say, "I am not like them" or " I don't like what Trump says all the time", then the responsibility is on them to turn to those who say and do those vile things and tell them to knock it off.
We are not talking about politics as normal. Now is not the time to say, "Oh well, what are you going to do".
Just recently Pence tried to equate Trump to MLK. That is fucking nonsense, and not only nonsense, it is really another dangerous attempt for him to wink at far right white bigots and tell them they are now the new oppressed group.
And even today the orange turd, after years of shitting on Hispanics/Mexicans and Puerto Rico, is now saying that he is a friend of those groups because he threw in a DOCA plan to his 5 billion dollar vanity project which was nothing more than pandering to his bigoted base.
If his supporters want to say others in their ranks don't represent them, so what? They have no right to bitch if they don't want to clean their own house.

Not only that, but most of the ones who make the news aren't really Trump supporters. For them, Trump is just a stooge that helps them fuel the news cycle and entertain their fans, and he is a stooge who can be easily manipulated into doing stupid things-- like this government shutdown fiasco that they have him backed into. They are not his friends and he can get burned to the ground so there is nothing but ashes left of him, and they won't care. There is no compromise that he can make that they will accept. To them, he is just a stupid kid that they can taunt into doing stupid things, and then ridicule him for wanting to get out of the stupid situation that they taunted him into. He is so desperate to be an alpha male that everyone knows that they can taunt him into grabbing the electric fence to see if it is still on.
How dare you try to downplay 45's vile dangerous rhetoric. If it had no effect on those who follow him, there would have been no Charlottesville Va.
This is the same president who refused to accept his intel when they told him Russia did interfere. The same asshole who also refused to condemn the Saudi Prince for the murder of a reporter.
Your ignorance of how the rhetoric of a leader can and does influence a society is astounding, and naive and dangerous.
