The lesser of two evils mentality that is so pervasive among the Democratic base is what makes the Democratic base so pathetic. They don't want to win. They're just looking for someone to surrender to.

"Two shall enter.  One shall leave."

That applies to the Democratic nomination.  It may look like this now:

But that will likely change long before election time.  And once it does, an effective campaign can turn a sow's ear into a silk purse.  Look at Kamala.  Marketing is the answer.

The biggest challenge the Democrats face in 2020 is Howard Schultz.

Schultz is a dick. He is trying to force the Democratic Party to nominate a centrist 'Republican lite'. He is basically using his billions to frighten the party into nominating a Republican lite candidate, by threatening to run as a spoiler. As I said, the biggest problem with the Democrats is that they are too fear oriented. One fucking billionaire says that he'll run as a centrist spoiler, and the Dems will nominate a centrist to mollify the billionaire. A bunch of frightened Dems who say that want big money out of politics are going to assume the position for a good centrist butt fucking by Big Money.

I see this as a good opportunity to stand our ground. The centrist New Dems are not the strongest faction of the Democratic Party. The largest coalition in the Democratic Party is on the left. We keep letting people who aren't really representative of the Democratic Party lead the Democratic Party because the New Dems keep appealing to fear of the center.

But I think this is the perfect storm for the left to win big time. We can publicly tar and feather Schultz as the poster child for Big Money in Politics, and for being another Trump. We can forever brand the center as being all about Big Money.

If Schultz doesn't stand down after we run a smear campaign on him for trying to use his money to control the Democratic Party, we will face a three way race in which our only goal will be to prevent Trump from getting 270 electoral votes. If we do that, we win. Heck, we can probably pick up the electoral votes in some states where we maneuver Trump and Schultz into slugging it out with each other. It might be a good time for a three way race, because Dems hold the House.

A centrist spoiler is possibly more of threat to Trump than to the Dems.
We do not inherit the world from our parents. We borrow it from our children.
