That should tell you something. The people don't get to select the president; the existing power structure selects the president. Your "choice", really, is Republican, or Republican-lite, and it will be made for you.
Of course, even the existing power structure gets bit on the ass now and then, and ends up with "bat-shit crazy".
But sheer inertia protects most of them from any major fallout, until they install the next edition.
