Is there something I need to explain about that or does that answer the OP question and intent?
Glad you are not part of my family.
Christopher Hitchens said it best about the Abraham Issac story, "If you asked me to kill my own son, my response would be, "No, and fuck you."
My late mother made her OWN decision to not seek more medical help to prolong her life. But you are out of your fucking mind, that if someone asked me to let harm come to her or let someone kill her, and I could prevent it, but I would be rewarded for loyalty if I did nothing, FUCK THEM.
The Abraham Issac story, AND the Jesus story, are not for the benefit of humans. Those stories were written in the age of kings, and even in polytheism, the mortality rate was much higher, and back then loyalty to your local ruling king/family was a mandate, and back then, if your king demanded your kid fight for them, you had no choice.
The "sacrifice" motif of antiquity was about protecting the ruler, it had nothing to do with the human empathy of the non ruling class.
