My father was a mental health counselor. He would have taken a professional interest in you if God lied to you.
The world clearly could do with more people like your dad. If I were to go about telling people, 'God told me to do such-and-such', they wouldn't think twice. If I were to tell the same people, 'Yog-Sothoth told me to do such-and-such', I'd be packed off to therapy so fast the air would crackle.
