Most people do it for show and are usually compensating for something when they do.(September 3, 2019 at 11:15 pm)Atomic Monster Wrote: My favorite part of this is seeing all the ammoxsexuals lose their collective minds.
They have done studies and found a good guy with a gun would either botched the entire thing by either getting shot since they lack the proper training-and or they would be mistaken as the shooter.
^^^^^^^ SOOO MUCH THIS!
The Roy Rogers myth of the "Good guy" is just that, bullshit. Stranger on stranger interaction with a firearm is rare compared to suicide in the home, domestic violence in the home, or accidental in the home. And like you said, even if you introduce a firearm in a stranger on stranger event, you are more likely to get injured or killed, or injure a bystander than to successfully hit your intended target.
Civilians even with concealed or open carry permits still do not have the constant stress shooting training required that law enforcement has to maintain through out their careers.
And the Dallas police murders are a perfect example as to why public carry is a bad idea. 5 cops were murdered, but it took hours longer to finally spot the killer because of all the insecure morons they had to stop and check to make sure they were not the perp.
Unless you have a uniform or job that requires you to carry in public, leave that shit at home or locked up in your car.

Produce said study.
Or at least the identity of this nefarious "they" that did said "study".
You' ll have to forgive my skepticism.
I wasn't aware that second guessing hypothetical situations was a valid scientific method.

The good guy with a gun is nothing but a fantasy from watching too many movies
