Do you think it is possible to stop someone from getting a gun in the United States who wants one? I don't think that is possible. I don't believe unarming moral lawful people makes us safer.
And so you're going to do jack shit?
I never said that. Here are a couple of questions for you.
Can you give me a proposal or idea that will likely reduce the ability for someone to get a gun illegally? I would be behind that.
What policy or idea do you have that would reduce the ability to get guns illegally and still be able to obtain guns legally without changing the constitution? I believe that to really reduce guns in the US we need amend the constitution. Because strict laws for possession of a gun are unconstitutional as the supreme court has interpreted the 2nd amendment. You don't need a reason to exercise your right to own a gun, the government needs a reason to limit that ownership. Do you believe amending the constitution is possible?
I am not saying do nothing. But we must be truthful about the situation. There are so many guns in the US that preventing someone from getting one illegally is almost impossible. I have no answer to that unless government takes guns away over time and stops letting people have them. But then that would mean amending the constitution which is probably impossible at this time.
What are your real solutions?
