I have done it myself.
When setting up a table at a gun show that was a 4 1/2 h hour drive from home - with a set-up time of 6 a.m. I decided to get a hotel room the night before - near the venue - rather than having to leave the house at 1:30 a.m.
It would have been unwise to leave that many guns unattended - even in a locked car.
So I brought 8 large gun cases into my room.
Nobody said a thing.
No problem.
Edit to add - if you think searching hotel rooms for weapons is ok- you have to like searching people's houses as well --- as Castle doctrine is held for hotel rooms in every state that has it - as far as I know....
