Destroying those portions would require making new of the entire part. One can't simply weld pieces on to make it whole, because there would be too many machining operations required afterwards. If the portions are torched as you say, it would be an order of magnitude cheaper to simply buy a new gun. So, dirch is wrong yet again, in this case by the sin of omission. I don't feel like I have to check all his lies, but this is what happens when I don't. 
Which is why I generally ignore him. Then again, his clarity was probably because he was quoting someone else's BS talking points.
