In fact, I actually read an article for a college class which talked about how, if there was going to be an increase in the maximum age that humans could live to, things would be a whole lot worse; there'd be overpopulation and most developed nations would become gerontocratic plutocracies. I should probably search in my personal archives to see if I can find it.
My first thought was, "Great, religious fanatics are working hard to make sex education, birth control and abortion illegal. So birth rates are going to be going up and people that don’t know they’ve just soiled themselves are going to be living an extra 65 years."
Then I read:
