Like it or not (and I don’t) it’s been in the nature of journalism to cook up juicy stories that sell papers or ratings or views since before William Randolph Hearst and Joseph Pulitzer railroaded the US to go to war with Spain. The biggest difference between the “mainstream media” and the sort of sources you prefer is that, well, the latter are more blatant about it.
