The best news out of that is that voter turnout was 40% higher than the last governor's race, and a democrat (provisionally) won.  It may or may not hold true at this time next year, but it certainly is an indication that people on the left are more engaged.

And I think you mean 'shamelessly groveled for votes'.  For 'shamefully' to be the right word, Trump would have to be capable of shame.
