ironically you are right here.
In that like the idea leprechauns hand out gold at the end of the rainbow, people create their own lore based on tradition, and the canonical view gets lost. If you are trading good deeds for answered prayers, then why would the God of the bible who said he does not do this honor your own construct?
like wise if there were leprechauns they would not be handing out gold at the end of rainbows. Why? because according to canonical lore they hid their gold at the end of rainbows not hand gold out. They mended shoes and granted 3 wishes if you caught one. that's it.
So yes again thanks for giving a personal example of how unmet expectations often have to do with your perception on how things work verse how things work.
