A "holy" place is no different from any other kind of place, in reality. The only difference is what value people place on a location, thought, value, or idea. My issue with this is that we can convince ourselves that a religion, or certain set of ideas, is above criticism because people find it to be very important to them... and the issue with that is certain ideologies cause a lot of harm in our society. A harmful ideology combined with the concept that said ideology is above criticism creates a recipe for disaster, obviously. That is why some of us rail against religion so hard, because it is legitimately harmful to a lot of people in our world, so why shouldn't we be able to criticize it?
When the religious respond with, "Most people in X, Y, or Z religion are moderate believers who mind their own business," okay, great. That's not the type of religion that any of us are criticizing.

If you're frightened of dying, and you're holding on, you'll see devils tearing your life away. But if you've made your peace, then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the Earth.
