You’re perfectly correct that I don’t get to decide what your intent was. However, when you make homophobic comments (and it isn’t possible for you to sensibly deny that that is EXACTLY did), it’s reasonable for me to assume that you had a homophobic intent (if you didn’t, you would have said something else).
Stop saying homophobic things and I’ll stop thinking you’re a homophobe.
