Nope. What reasons? Why does an all-powerful god need servants? Makes no sense.
And what you met was not an angel. According to your story it was a flesh and blood mortal who needed a lift. Hardly divine. He knew some things about you and your life. Sounds like one of your church members told a friend your tale and asked him to scare you straight. It's an old trick called a warm reading. Religious frauds have been using it for thousands of years.
