"Guards! Guards!" And "Reaperman" are good starting points.
One introduces my favourite Discworld character: Sir Samuel Vimes
Good advice. I went nuts over ‘The Colour Of Magic’ and almost abandoned the series when I read ‘The Light Fantastic’.
Glad I came to my senses.

Was it the octarine color on ‘The Light Fantastic’ cover that you didn't like?
I have a few Pratchett Discworld books. I discovered him only a few years ago. Just finished 'A Blink of the Screen'. The Valkyrie and I talked about Granny Weatherwax in another thread, and she mentioned that she liked Nanny Ogg better. I can understand why. Granny Weatherwax was quite a pill in 'The Wyrd Sisters'. As far as fictional bars go, what's the name of the one Spider Robinson's characters hung out in? Callahan's?
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.
