I think you can easily find the most common definition of the plague, in particular, it's caused by the bacterium Yersinia pestis. Clearly, cholera doesn't match the definition.

Christianity doesn't do that, for a start. They don't have any reliable text of what Jesus said, or did.

What's so funny, pal.? Plague has a specific definition, and it's caused by a specific kind of bacteria. Therefore viral pandemics really can't be called plagues.

I think I understand how this works. For some prophecies, like the big building one, it is vital to redefine the Prophet’s words to mean as many different things as needed to make the prophecy work. For other prophecies, like the plague one, we can only use the specific, modern definition of the words, because that makes the prophecy work.

Clearly, Muhammad knew all about the differences between viral diseases and bacterial ones.
