There's an argument to be made that industrialization was another form of the state export of violence, and it needs to be said that violence could never have reached the level of art is has since industrialization without that assist.
Violence is ubiquitous on this rock not because it's in human nature, specifically, but because this planet is a meat grinder covered in creatures that compete with each other over who can eat whom alive, asshole first...first.
In reality, violence is almost always the answer - but affirming that in principle isn't the best way to keep our populace docile and compliant, so we propagandize each other and ourselves to insist otherwise. The pacifist's conceit has it's pros and cons.
