So basically you are saying you don't give a shit that people with mental illness own firearms? Nice, glad you were not my mother. I'd be dead from suicide long ago.
Don't hand me that bullshit. You damn sure would not sell me a firearm if you owned a gun shop and you fucking know it.
You simply gave this answer because you know damned well you don't like the cognitive dissonance.
The problem with our laws as the stand, because I have no record I could go out and buy one right now. I will never own a firearm not because I'd hurt other people. But because I don't want to have a moment of weakness and kill myself. The other reason is because I have always been a clutz.
But unfortunately the same laws that allow dangerous people like this one to get hold of them. The same laws that allowed Roof to get a hold of them. The same laws that allowed the Virginia Tec shooter to get a hold of them. Not all people who kill other people get their firearms illegally. In fact the opposite is true.
I would like to back up and ask if you are saying you are mentally ill...it certainly sounds like that's what you are saying.
If you were ever to get a gun, I would hope you would be issued a single bullet that you had to carry in your pocket, a la Barney Fife.
Again - it's "klutz".
I am not "mentally ill" I have "mental illness". Too much of society treats "mental illness" like the character in the movie psycho. There is too much stigma attached to those words. Most people who have mental illness are not violent. But there certainly are those whom are not self aware like me that end up committing suicide, and others who do hurt others, even if in the minority.
Most firearm deaths and injuries outside suicide are a combo of ego, narcissism, power and control and entitlement which can be combined with things like greed, economic problems, sociopathy and most of those people are not mentally ill.
Why would I want to carry a single bullet? Martin Riggs in Lethal Weapon carried a "special" bullet just for suicide because he always thought about it, and made excuses not to do it. I am sorry, but if you seriously think that is a sane way to cope, that is nuts. I don't want bullets or guns.
