OK, I follow you. Yes, I agree that many, many white Americans believe this. I find it to be hilarious because I grew up in a working class family in a small town and I was very, very Baptist. I experienced all the same cultural shifts they did but I don't believe what they believe. I think it's a vast gap in understanding. I also had to do a lot of learning and experiencing after I left the safety of mom and dad. I'd say I barely understood what it meant to grow up black in America until my 30's even though I had many black friends growing up. When you learn a little about actual American history, you can't help but understand that no matter how much shit you endure as a white person, you haven't experienced 1/1000th the shit that black people, native people, Asians and others experienced, including Anglo Saxon immigrants who arrived here in the 18th and 19th centuries.
Quote:They believe that their votes are being diluted by immigrants and blacks, they believe that they are being stigmatized for their whiteness and american-ness instead of their awfulness. They believe that we are being taught not to have pride in ourselves or our country. They believe that their rights are being stripped from them.
The last part is the most ridiculous. I know because I've been in more conversations. Gay rights means they lost their right to discriminate against gays. Give me a break.
The first part is insidious because every citizen is supposed to have the right to vote but yeah, they don't like it when blacks vote.
Quote:They believe that they are losing their country...and that no one consulted them on these demographic changes..as if that were a thing....what else are they supposed to do?
Trump didn't write any of that, it's borrowed copy - the recruiting mantra of contemporary white supremacy.
You are right; this mantra has been going on since the Regan era via talk show hosts who started on AM radio of all things and now have the biggest platforms on the planet. I can't help it but I just keep seeing Rome in our current situation. A lot of the same issues, such as who has rights, who controls business, the media, religion. It's just forms of selfishness if you ask me. Are whites losing this country? Probably, but only because the country is founded on some really good ideas and it only makes sense to allow others who share those ideas to join in. If whites become the minority, then so be it. Why is that such a bad thing?
Why is it so?
