Having worked juvenile detention, shelter care, and alternative school decades ago as a way to get through and pay off school, I can tell you I was never afraid of any kid. Not that I'm a brute or badass. I knew from dealing with farm animals and aggressive dogs that being fearless and nonthreatening was the great de-escalator.
Many kids have horrible parents and overcome that. Some have good parents but suffer mental illness. A person who draws a conclusion about the parents from reading the story and watching the video shows both ignorance and bias.
