A responsible parent teaches a kid -

Don't feed the bears;
Don't tease the rattlesnake;
And don't piss off cops..

Actually I used this list for my girls:

Don't get pregnant
Do well in school
Don't make me have to deal the cops

Son got a similar list:
Don't get anyone pregnant
Do well in school
Don't make me have to deal with the cops

At no time did I think I had to coach my kids (at the age of nine) on what not to do if handcuffed by a flock of police officers.
