They are no different than any other schlub on the street - and they will be the first to tell you that.

Their ethics and morals don't come from a textbook or a seminar - but like everone else - a life lived.

Then do a better job of who you hire as cops. Maybe an interview question like, ‘Describe the circumstances under which you would pepper spray a nine year old in the face’ would be helpful.

"If she had calves like cantaloupes and was kicking at me, she'd need some pepper spray to the face" isn't likely to be an answer in an interview, and shouldn't be one on the street, either.
