And so, it is not so much a case of God is unable to lie, so much as it is "the truth can't be false" - to suggest otherwise would be a logical fallacy.
Why only ascribe "good" things to god?
Shouldn't bad things like deception also be inherent aspects of god, seeing as god is the supposed blueprint for the whole Universe and human psyche?
It's bound up in their beliefs about a moralizing god. Probably already said it - but a monotheistic or henotheistic god is commonly incapable of doing whatever a god believer thinks it would be bad for a god to do. Taboo. This one thinks that lying sucks, so his good god can't lie. It's not a logical product, but it's important to rationalize the belief in order to avoid saying a bad thing..which is, frankly, yes he believes that there are tons of things a god can't do - and none of them are a problem for his idea of the power or nature of a god.
