I didn't vote for the simple reason that I think the options are too simplistic. From my point of view, the subject is much more layered than the basic 'liar, lunatic or lord'-style categories in the poll. Theistic beliefs can be all of those, as well as things such as wishful thinking, a security blanket against the nastier side of life, and even a form of escapism from reality. Throw in the sense of belonging that comes from being part of a like-minded group, the ease with which such groups can be manipulated by those with vested interests, and the bottom feeder televangelists and similar parasites, and you have a picture that is far, far muddier than this poll would suggest.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'
