Why don't you drop the act, Mashmont? I grew up in the Catholic Church. I know all about it. I even admire it in some ways. But it's a flawed institution no matter how you slice it. That is, it's not perfect. Not to be trusted with the canonization of saints. Not to be trusted with the pronouncement of heresies.
Sure, not entirely bad. I like its monastic traditions. It isn't merely a gang of child molestors, as some would portray it. But flawed nonetheless. The scandals, and the Papacy's knee-jerk response to these scandals, only highlight this fact.
Your Church is more concerned about power than it is about God. And your Church is more concerned about power than atheists are. In short, your Church is a power-hungry monster. Might even be the sort of thing Jesus preached against. If you take a Scribe or Pharisee... and add belief in the New Testament, you get a Christian.
