Atheists can easily appreciate religion on some of it's basis. I certainly appreciate a truly selfless person who engages in acts of kindness toward others. I don't hate the idea of religion but I despise nearly all of how people engage with it. Christians will crow about how their religion is about love and forgiveness and kindness, but what is the overwhelming message that Christianity screams? Conformity! Sin! Rules! Hell! One would think these were two completely unrelated subject. I have no interest in enjoying religion because it offers nothing of use to me. I can engage in anything religion claims to offer without ever appealing to a deity. Mostly I just laugh at Christians, so that is entertaining.
Why is it so?
