Since believing in God makes people happy, why don't we just lobotomize those parts of the brain that have nothing to do with religion/spirituality, and then augment the remaining parts of the brain, to be more receptive to the idea of God? And then fill people's lives with religious fellowship, good food, and fancy wine? The people would be very glad, and I am certain they would never want to return to their previous state.

I had suspected you had been lobotomized.

Not as much of a diss as you think. If it's between lobotomized and happy, or fully functional but miserable, I'll gladly take the former option, any day of the week.
