When you look at religion you have to look at the big picture. You have to look at the whole batshittery spectrum. The fact that Christmas and Easter most likely are not actual birth and death dates is fairly low on the batshittery spectrum for them (although they don't call it the batshittery spectrum it's actually called major and minor theology). It can be glossed over by saying that it's the celebration that matters not so much the dates. Of course they could just ask god (who tells them so many other things to do) when the correct dates are and be done with it. I kind of like Christmas as a winter solstice celebration (though a few days late) I have seasonal affective disorder and, even though I live deep in the Bible belt, winters are still somewhat significant here so a little cheer is nice.
See how things can so easily get glossed over?

I have studied the Bible and the theology behind Christianity for many years. I have been to many churches. I have walked the depth and the breadth of the religion and, as a result of this, I have a lot of bullshit to scrape off the bottom of my shoes. ~Ziploc Surprise
