Jesus birth date and death

Even fundamentalists will admit they are not sure when in the year Jesus was born. Also that the holiday of Saturnalia (which fell at the same time as Christmas) got appropriated by Christians (at least in the west).

So you think the conversation goes something like this:

Parishioner: Father I don't understand why the birth of Jebus is always the same date but the date his death is remembered all depends on the phase of the moon.
Priest: Oh that's because we appropriated the the holiday of Saturnalia from the Roman pagans for Christmas and Easter comes from the pagan ritual of celebrating the new life in spring.

Really? You think that is the answer to my question? If you do then you didn't understand my original question, go back to the first post and think about what I am asking.
