Could some one explain the logic of trying children as adults in the US?
In most developed countries, the concept of legal majority means a legal infant (under the age of majority) cannot be tried as an adult, no matter what crime has been committed.
This is the case in Australia, as well as in the PRC.
The age of majority in mainland China is 18. As far as I'm aware a person younger than 18 cannot be tried as an adult.
Development does not come on a rigidly fixed time scale. To say that someone 17 years and 350 days is not accountable for their actions but three weeks later would be is just silly.
Therefore they changed the laws to reflect the reality that some kids knew better - but committed an offense anyway.
Short version: America doesn’t charge children as adults unless they feel like it.
