If children can be tried as adults, then there is no point in having an age of majority for…well…anything. If a 15 year old is fit and emotionally mature, they can undertake military service. If an 11 year old grasps the issues, they can vote.
There are reasons that societies pick an age when a person becomes a legal adult. I agree with you - charging a child as an adult is an emotional response.
