Hard to see how it could be further worsened given that this has been a steady and very accurate criticism of the us (and especially from russia) since..oh, idk, ww2? It's a sad state of affairs when people in nothereistans lives depend on whether some nutter in another nothereistani country can be convinced that the us is the great satan.
