Um, nope, that isn't my claim. Atheism per se doesn't necessarily lead to some mental crisis because, evidently, many atheists enjoy good mental health.
By contrast, being an atheist, or more generally not adhering to some form of "hero system", a recurrent concept in The Denial of Death, combined with being fully aware of death or, rather, the finality of death, this is a sure fire way for a descent into darkness. This is, by the way, not my claim, but the main result that Ernest Becker defended on the basis of centuries of scholarly research in psychology.

Well, first of all, the Islamic narrative you're making fun of here doesn't exactly say that. The supernatural creature named Buraq' isn't a donkey, and Muhammad didn't claim that he split the moon, he simply asked God to do so, and God answered his prayer.
God being able to split the moon isn't a far-fetched scenario under theism, so I'm not sure why you think parodying Islam's popular accounts of miracles is somehow a good argument against religion. Any argument against theism should point out to an observation or an indisputed fact that is unlikely to occur under theism, that's why the problem of evil is prima facie a challenging argument against theism (though it ultimately fails, but that's another topic) : the existence of evil is not intuitive under theism. A moon being split is, to wit, just another normal day .... under theism.
