Wow, I almost would have sympathy for winter, if not the answer to his gayness was all that hate and want to harm other people.

It isn’t the fact that he’s gay that’s causing the harm. It’s the conflict between his gayness and his rejection of it. 

This is why I think that once he comes to terms with who he is, he’ll be a happier (and less toxic) person.
