Good News from France and the UK

Yesterday the Labor Party in the UK came back to power after 14 years of conservative rule.
Today the Republican Alliance between the centrist and leftist forces resulted in a full blockage to the neo-fascist RN Aliance in France. Every time she loses an election Mrs Lepen (her political party is called the FN – The National Front) used to go to a discotheque to shake off all the stress of the political struggle. She does that every time to show that she is not giving up. So that’s where I would be looking for her right now.
In the meantime, the people are also celebrating.
This event here is showing us that if we are able to leave small differences aside and unite behind republican and democratic values against populism and neo-fascism, there can be positive results and I like to see positive results.
I must also add that I was greatly relieved when I saw the first results at 8 pm local time. One cannot help thinking how a conservative Eurosceptic, racist government in France would have greatly sabotaged all of the political mechanisms of the EU. And if you add a MAGA victory to this in November in the US. I cannot really guess how all of this would have ended.
Since Brexit, France and Germany are the main locomotives of the EU. So a populist government is not really affordable in either one of the two countries.
